“They sold a 1 pound burger at this pub. My friends and I had to try it. Biggest burger I've ever seen in my life. It was pretty dry and not seasoned well enough, cheese wasn't melted either. One of my friends ordered a standard size burger and his burger was juicy and well done so I think it's just hard to make a huge burger like that perfectly; so I wouldn't be too hard on this place from my experience with the 1 lb monster of a burger . The fries were really good though. Service was friendly. The atmosphere was that of a typical pub . Broasted chicken was great.”
“Came in about an hour and 15 minutes before close on a Saturday night we received amazing service from the bartender whose name was Bell she was super friendly and very attentive we had a fantastic experience with the food as well . I would 10 out of 10 recommend this place to anyone we had the The notorious bear burger definitely worth it !!!”
“My wife and I had lunch yesterday. It was most delicious, I had the cub sized burger. And my wife the fish and chips. Both were prepared fast, and throughly a great experience. The staff were friendly and quite welcoming. I highly recommend trying this gem located on the main drive. We did see the massive signature burger!
Wow, it was huge! Come and try for yourself.”
“For how many employees there were & how many were already sitting down I was surprised how fast our food came. I ordered "The Gringo", which was very good. Even the Moscow Mule I get everywhere was a decent size. Our server didn't come by too much, which I prefer. Thank you for a great first experience!”
“I've heard about this for a while and finally made it in. The chili burger did not disappoint. Friends ordered the Black and Bleu burger and the mushroom with peppers and were also very happy with their burger. They were out of the soup special when we arrived mid afternoon - but to be expected. Loved the Detroit stuff on the walls. Waitress was fantastic. Will be back again when in the area!!!”
“We love the Brown Bear!
Always get fantastic service and the best burgers on the planet! The "Notorious Bear Burger" is a must try! 1 Pound of the best beef, cooked to your liking, Go hungry, this thing is mammoth!
We've tried a few other menu items and desserts, never a disappointment. they also have a good selection of drinks & beers.
We love the atmosphere as well, feels like your hanging out in a hunting lodge. like a hidden log cabin in the mountains.
Pentwater is a beautiful town and I think the Brown Bear is a big part of that. it's located right in the center of town and within walking distance to the shops, marina & waterfront park!”

“We loved the atmosphere and the menu. The pretzel with bee cheese spread and prime rib dipper are both delicious.”
“Carrie was our server, we ordered a beer fried pickles, cuban sandwich with onion rings, and the A1 Burger with sweet potato fries.
Service was great.
Atmosphere was pretty noisy and it wasn’t clear if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait.
Burger was real solid and cooked perfect medium as ordered. The burger bun was SO good. Cuban was okay. Not enough ham, and the pulled pork is mediocre. Not at all
a bad sandwich, I’m just picky about my
cubanos. Sweet potato fries are thin, almost shoe string style and not super crunchy. Would probably go for the regular fries next time. Onion rings were good.
Overall a very solid option if you’re in pentwater and want a tasty dinner. Our tab was about $60 after tip.”
